Spring and Summer 2006

I was busy doing a couple of things at once during 06. The car came back w/out the front suspension so I was going to have to decide soon on what direction I was going to take it, it also needed a real rear end. I was planning from the get go to use TCP like dad had but after doing quite a bit of research I choose to go w/ a Mustang II independent front suspension kit that would include disc brake and adjustable coil overs. This kit was purchased from Rod n Custom. I also ordered the tilt column, brake master cyl w/ prop valve and oil pan designed for the 351 in the 65 from them. The rear end was ordered off ebay from Quick Performance Racing. Shortened 9" housing w/ posi, 3:50 gears, Mowser axles 31 spline, Ford Racing disc brakes then had the housing powder coated here in town - it doesn't come black like the pic.

February 2005


Back to the stable with no front legs...what to do?
(Note: before this shot was taken I had already purchased a 351 Cleveland block and had that to an engine builder.)
So I was planning on getting all Total Control Products for the front suspension but after some discussion and research found that it would fit but would be really tight. So the stang was going to have to sit like this until I figured out exactly what I wanted and until more funds were available.

Oct 2004 to Late January 2005

The car went to the body shop around October of 04 for a complete overhaul. Doors, floors, rear frame rails, inner & outer wheel wells, quarter panels, headlight buckets, front and rear valances and hood were all new. The car was put on a rotisserie and media blasted. All bad metal was removed, cleaned up and replaced with new. I believe to date that this has been the most expensive part of the build with the engine coming in second, so far. March 2004

Within a couple of weeks I had the car completely torn down which is always the easy part. This is what it looked like waiting fohe body shop. This is the path to the cars home.

January 2004

I bought the car mid January in 2004 from a Steve Miller (SM) in Northern Il. He sells and buys Mustang Cars and parts from all over the country. He was approached by a guy who had this Mustang in the back of his shop for years and wanted to know if SM wanted to buy. He bought it and put it on classiccartrader.com or something like that. Now that I'm trying to remember I can not think of how I got wind of this car. Anyways, me and my dad cruise down to check it out and pick it up. Here's how it looked the day we picked it up. My 1965 Mustang Fastback's little slice of the Internet

This is the spot where I am dedicating to my car project. I will go back in time explaining how the car came into my possession and chronologically document it's recreation from Illinois Rustang to a Wisconsin RestoMod. It's not anywhere near completed but a good chunk of progress has been made over the last couple of years.
